Building Relationships Amongst Cultures Everywhere


BRACE is a group of students from CONEL who have come together to resolve issues of conflict between different communities by:

  • Promoting respect
  • Raising cultural awareness
  • Building relationships
  • Challenging stereotypes

BRACE will host workshops, do road shows, conferences and put on events in order to spread the message of peace and respect. By doing this we plan to make our communities a much safer environment to live in.

AIMS

  • Build links between young people from different backgrounds
  • Encourage people to acknowledge, discuss and appreciate their differences, and to prevent relations between communities and individuals, being harmed by ignorance, prejudice or fear.
  • Improve life skills and leadership skills of young people
  • Brace  project should give the young people a sense of ownership for there community
  • The sessions should also build confidence and the aspirations of the young people involved

 

BRACE will be run in partnership with:

CONEL, who will provide the young people and will be involved in steering the project.

BRACE is funded by The City Parochial foundation as part of its community cohesion work.

The Peace Alliance will provide training for the young people who will be delivering BRACE in primary and secondary schools.

Other agencies including The Black Police Association and The Turkish Police Association, and other cultural education groups, will help to provide training and thenecessary information/support BRACE will need to succeed.
